Choosing Pot Sizes

When transplanting from soil, choose a hydro pot that's slighty smaller than the existing grow pot. Smaller grow pots encourage a quicker wet/dry cycle which is vital for healthy root growth.

For orchids, most plants growing in 6" pots transfer into a 5" hydro planter.
For houseplants,it's the same. Most houseplants growing in 6" pots transfer best into 5" hydro planters.

I'm using it for re-potting Orchids. I wish the had clear inside container so I could see root growth and health. But working good.

I've been a user of various Hydroponic supplies/kits for over 30 years.

I found the quality of the materials and workmanship of the EasyGroHydro pots (inner and outer) with the gauges and clay pebbles to be of the highest caliber of those I've used over the years. This is no flimsy water filled pot. The inner pots are very strong, yet flexible enough when you need to give it that added bend, without breaking it for repotting or cutting off overgrown roots as these pots produce very vigorous healthy plants! The decorative outer pots (I've only purchased the white pots, but I'm certain the black ones are of same manufacturer and quality as I see in photos), are solid and really modern lines that go with any décor. I have 11 pots so far from EasyGroHydro and they make my other Hydroponic pots look old and shabby, so over the next year or so I'll be slowly transplanting to bigger pots using the EasyGroHydro system as they need it.

A note about shipping/packing. They are intelligently packaged so the pebbles are in the bottom of the box in a single bag (more than enough comes with the order considering the plants have root balls that take up pebble space so I always have left over ones for next time). The pots are nestled in each other protected by clear wraps and packaging materials. They arrived in perfect condition and very speedily too as when you get the "bug" in you to do some repotting you want the supplies around so you don't lose it or go off doing other things instead, and EasyGroHydro on their easy to use web marketplace (via Yahoo) is perfect. Note the photos of the single pots below, with rulers showing the correct sizes actual diameters of pots you are ordering so everything is very clear what you are to receive. I put the little gauge in the back behind the plant stems so as to keep a neat appearance, but I've seen others do it in front for visibility when the water/fertilizer mixture runs low---so you can see it. Pots are very uniform so there is no one forward side (as in so many others I've looked at for my soil plants in the store) so rotate them around so you can choose which way fits your lifestyle and appearance.
